Since 1988 the Ecumenical Research Forum (ERF) is dedicated to young scholars dealing with Ecumenical Theology and Missiology. The ERF offers an open and international setting to discuss research projects regarding the Ecumenical Movement, interdenominational relations and current developments within the churches in the contemporary world. Once a year the ERF is inviting to its Annual Meeting in Hamburg.

The Annual Meetings of the ERF

  • provide an open forum for presenting and discussing research projects
  • give the opportunity to network among graduate students, young scholars & teachers
  • offer a space for sharing of perspectives and gaining inspiration
  • enhance ecumenical formation

Participation in the Annual Meetings is open to all interested in exchanging ideas, discussing research projects and networking. Discussions take place both in German and/or English.

The Annual Meetings are organised by the international Executive Committee.

Since 2000, the ERF is a member of the Societas Oecumenica, the European association for ecumenical research.

The ERF was founded in 1988 at the Evangelical Academy in Iserlohn, Germany.
